Disasters Emergency Committee

DEC charities are providing lifesaving aid in Gaza, Lebanon, the West Bank and Syria but urgently need more funds.

In Gaza, millions of people are in urgent need and no new aid supplies have entered since the beginning of March. This devastating humanitarian crisis is deteriorating every day. People are facing extreme levels of food insecurity, leaving the entire population at risk of famine.

In Lebanon the ceasefire agreement at the end of last year meant some of the hundreds of thousands of people displaced by conflict could return to their communities. But months on, many still have no home to return to, and many more are cut off from basic services.

DEC charities and their local partners continue to work tirelessly to support people in unimaginably difficult conditions, as they have been doing throughout the crisis. During periods of ceasefire they have been able to significantly scale up their work.

Messages of condolence

Deepest sympathies to Tony, Stella, Ana and Antony. Although we only seldom met, Linda was in the family mould. Her ancestor, John Winstone (d. 1928) was a journeyman stonemason whose extensive Journals Linda proudly kept, take us back to Lot Winstone at the chapel in Eastcombe, Glos. and John's own career working in churches. We were pleased to be able to connect with Linda and her family, albeit infrequently.

Mr & Mrs John & Rosie Winstone
