Richard died, aged 87, on Tuesday November 10th, in Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford. He was dearly loved by his family and friends and will be sorely missed.

He was married to Bobby Vindenes and to Jane Barker.

After his retirement Richard lived in Teddington, Greater London, and was a beloved member of the community: working as a furniture restorer; volunteering for the Twickenham CAB and for Richmond AID; and a valued member of the Kingston Choral Society for over 40 years. Messages of condolence

Pam, Lucy and Jenny - what a very lovely Daddy you had. Always so gracious and so wonderful to have spent an evening dancing with him in Hampton the summer before last. Such fond memories. I pray that every penny of donations made in his memory will have a bigger impact than any of us could dream or imagine in finding a cure for Parkinsons. With much love, Philippa xxxxxxx

Dick was a loyal and supportive colleague in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, always approachable and always good company. Our memories of him go back a long way and range from London to Beijing and Hongkong. Later he came to our house in Lindon to give us the benefit of his expert furniture restoration skills. We shall miss him and are very glad to have known him. Susan Pares and Jim Hoare
